Why I Became A Financial Advisor
If there’s one certainty in life, it’s that the unexpected can happen at any time. I experienced this early in life when my father passed away prematurely. He didn’t have anything appropriately planned and, as a result, my family’s legacy vanished. We lost my grandfather’s estate and all of my childhood mementos when the property was sold abruptly.
Not only did we have to deal with the devastation of my father’s death, but also with the fear of what we would do financially. Sadly, this isn’t a unique situation. Too often, the unexpected happens, and we aren’t prepared for it. And many times, it can transform a family’s lifestyle. As a financial advisor, my goal is to work hard every day to help ensure none of my clients experience anything like what I went through.
Building My Career
My first career was as a military man. I joined the Marine Corps where I served as a sergeant for many years. After several years, I started working in insurance before entering the financial services industry in 1994. I worked with Wells Fargo Advisors as a Private Client Manager for more than 12 years where I learned the ins and outs of the industry.
While I loved what I did, I wanted more flexibility in what I could offer my clients. As my degree was in business management, I believed running an independent firm would allow me to serve my clients best and personalize my services to their needs.
In 2003, I joined the broker-dealer LPL Financial and founded my firm, Wealth Management Solutions, LLC. My goal with this firm was to build a team of dedicated professionals who work with clients to assemble all the parts of their financial life, work to help get everything running smoothly, and continuously monitor their progress as they work with confidence toward their goals.
The Obstacles and Triumphs
It’s not easy running a business and working as an advisor. It can be difficult balancing the operations duties along with client needs. However, I’m lucky to have an excellent team to support me.
And as challenging as the job may be at times, I can’t imagine having any other career. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing clients pursue their financial goals, and I enjoy working with those clients that perceive our services as valuable. I love what I do, and that passion drives me every day in my career.
